Honda recalls 2014 Acura MDX

A recall of 19,197 Acura MDX 2014 vehicles was announced by Honda during December 2013. The recall for the luxury SUV could affect drivers in Floyd County, Georgia, and other parts of the country as well. According to Honda and federal regulators, the recall in the United States was prompted by defective propeller shafts. If gone unchecked, this defective part could potentially lead to several car accidents.

The hazard stems from four bolts that are used to secure the propeller shaft to a universal joint. The bolts were not thoroughly tightened on all 2014 MDX vehicles, so the shaft may eventually detach as the bolts loosen up and fall out. A detached propeller shaft could ruin the vehicle, and cause drivers to crash. Honda has yet to receive any reports or claims of accidents resulting from this particular defect. Honda starts to notify customers of the recall midway through December 2013.

The new Acura MDX has been well received by most third party auto-industry publications. The 2014 MDX is actually one of the finalists for the North American Truck of the Year award that will be issued during January 2014 in Detroit. However, these accolades are irrelevant if a manufacturing defect leads to a potentially fatal collision. Some of the challenges accident victims typically deal with after a serious collision include physical rehab, lost wages and medical expenses.

Accident victims may include anyone experiencing pain and suffering resulting from an auto, truck, motorcycle or boating accident. Many victims may be able to recover restitution for these injuries if they file a civil suit against the at-fault manufacturer. An attorney could negotiate on their behalf and come to a reasonable settlement that covers the costs incurred as a result of the accident.
