Aston Martin issues recall

Georgia residents who have purchased an Aston Martin vehicle since 2007 may soon receive notice of the company's recent recall. Nearly 18,000 Aston Martins from around the world were recalled by the manufacturer due to possible issues with the vehicles' accelerator pedal arms that could leave them incapable of maintaining speed or accelerating during normal driving conditions and thereby increase the drivers' risks of being injured in an auto accident.

Sources report that the accelerator pedal arms at issue were built by a Chinese supplier under specifications provided by Aston Martin. According to Aston Martin, it will shortly begin manufacturing this particular part in Great Britain instead of China to avert future issues. Most Aston Martins released between 2007 and 2013 are affected, with the exception of some specialty vehicles, the Cygnet and the Vanquish; 5,001 of the recalled vehicles are located in the United States. The company had already discovered that the accelerator pedal issue was present in some cars, but claims it did not learn that the problem was more widespread until more recently.

As one can imagine, if a vehicle on the highway becomes suddenly unable to control its speed, it could be involved in a dangerous car accident. This may imperil not only the Aston Martin's driver, but drivers in nearby vehicles as well. Although many such accidents are indeed caused by the negligence of a party that is directly involved, in cases like this, the manufacturer itself could be held at least partially responsible for any injuries or property damage that occurs.

If a driver suspects that a defective auto part contributed to their accident, they may wish to have the manufacturer's policies and procedures thoroughly investigated. Automobile manufacturers whose customers incur damages during the use of their products may be required to compensate those customers for their medical expenses, pain and suffering and other losses.
