Hit-and-run driver who hit school bus sought in Atlanta

On Behalf of | Jan 25, 2013 | Car accidents

Driving during rush hour creates extra hazards for even the most careful drivers. More traffic on the roads means more opportunities for accidents. A distracted driver can miss things, and the result can be an accident. The hassle and expense of a car accident can be magnified if the accident becomes a hit-and-run. Those who suffer injuries or vehicle damage are forced to deal with their own insurance companies for compensation if the negligent drivers are not caught.

Our North Georgia readers can probably relate to the issues currently faced by the families of students who were involved in an accident. According to authorities, a pickup allegedly collided with a school bus on Jan. 16, leaving 29 students from a local high school startled. The driver of the pickup fled the scene. The students were taken to a local hospital as a precaution, but no serious injuries were reported. The pickup was described by witnesses as a white Ford with a tool box in the back.

Both the students and their parents who were interviewed expressed their dismay regarding the truck driver leaving the scene of the accident on Hightower Road in northwest Atlanta. Those interviewed also expressed hope that authorities are able to find the reckless driver.

Fortunately, this accident did not result in serious injuries but did rattle the students and the bus driver involved. If the driver of the pickup is found, victims from the accident could seek damages for medical expenses stemming from the incident, such as treatment of minor injuries.
