Georgia woman killed in 2-vehicle accident

A 26-year-old woman was killed as a result of a two-car accident in Columbus. After being rushed to the hospital, the woman was pronounced dead approximately five hours after the crash. Although the car wreck is still under investigation, police have charged a 23-year-old driver for the woman's death. The Muscogee County coroner has confirmed that the victim was not wearing a seat belt when the accident occurred.

The incident took place while the victim was riding as a passenger in a vehicle traveling westbound along Buena Vista Road near Linden Drive. At 3:44 a.m., the victim's car collided with the vehicle driven by the accused man. As a result of the collision, the woman was ejected from the car and suffered from blunt force wounds on her torso. She died during emergency surgery at Midtown Medical Center, and no autopsy will be required.

In addition to first-degree homicide by vehicle, the 23-year-old driver was charged for DUI, driving with a suspended license and providing false information to a police officer. He has also received five counts of disorderly conduct. The accused man was taken to Muscogee County Jail where he was held without bond.

The family of the deceased victim may decide to file a wrongful death lawsuit against the driver who was charged for the accident. They may be able to support their claim by gathering subpoenaed police reports and court records that demonstrate the liability of the driver. An attorney may be able to help the family to gather these documents and present them in an effective manner to a judge.
