Late night truck accident claims the lives of four

On Behalf of | Aug 14, 2014 | Truck Accidents

Not every vehicle in Rome, Georgia, is made the same. Motorcycles are light, fast, sexy and can be incredible dangerous in an accident, due to the lack of protection for its rider. Cars are the standard for most people, and, although they come in many sizes and shapes, they offer a wide variety of safety features for the occupants. While normally offering the same safety features as their smaller counterparts, SUV’s and trucks have an added advantage of size and weight. One of the largest, and in many people’s opinion the most dominate vehicle on the road, is the semi-truck tractor trailer. The sheer size and weight of a semi-truck can have devastating effects on any vehicle caught in an accident with it.

A late night truck accident claimed the lived of four along a stretch of I-75 in Georgia. The accident occurred during the clean-up of an earlier accident, which slowed traffic on the highway, further up on I-75. The accident claimed the life of all three occupants of an Impala and the passenger of a Ford F-150, both of which were hit by the semi. Although a complete accident investigation is likely to take months, authorities have reported their preliminary finding. They believe the accident occurred as a result of the semi-truck driver not slowing down before meeting the backed-up traffic. The semi struck seven other vehicles, two of which were other semi-trucks, before it stopped. The driver of the semi, who suffered minor injuries, may face criminal charges after the investigation has been completed.

Employers are responsible for the actions of their employees while on the clock. Nonetheless, an employer’s liability, for their employees, is not limitless. It covers most actions engaged in while the employee is completing their job duties. This means that employers can be held accountable for their employee’s actions financially and otherwise. This can be especially important in cases where one individual injuries or kills multiple people through their actions.

Semi-trucks and other large vehicles provide an invaluable service to the United States. These vehicles are unlikely to disappear from the roadways anytime soon.
