Can car crashes cause panic disorder?

Many people are aware that traffic accidents can lead to broken bones, medical expenses, and lost lives. However, it is vital to bear in mind that these collisions can also generate psychological challenges for victims. From panic disorders to depression, it is pivotal for those who were struck by a reckless driver to focus on recovering from the accident in all ways. Regrettably, some of the unseen consequences of traffic collisions can be incredibly overwhelming for the victims of these wrecks and those they love.

According to material published by the National Institute of Mental Health, some people may develop a panic disorder after a motor vehicle crash. For some people, panic disorders interfere with their ability to cope with challenges they may face in daily life. Some people develop post-traumatic stress disorder following a traffic collision and people in this position may be particularly prone to struggling with panic disorders. Moreover, other psychological hardships may appear in car crash victims’ lives, such as difficulties with substance abuse, depression, and even thoughts of suicide.

Sometimes, the psychological toll of accidents is overlooked. Sadly, these mental hurdles can be very upsetting for victims and disrupt their lives in an assortment of ways. Whether they face problems at work, are unable to work, face relationship problems, or are impacted in other ways, victims should try to address these matters promptly.
