Ladder in the road causes chain-reaction wreck

On Behalf of | Mar 27, 2020 | Truck Accidents

The Georgia State Patrol (GSP) is investigating an accident that occurred just past Beaver Run Road on I-85 that left several drivers injured — one in critical condition.

According to reports, a ladder somehow made its way to the middle of the highway. The driver of one vehicle struck the ladder, which propelled the vehicle into the path of several other vehicles. The drivers immediately behind the errant vehicle were able to make timely stops — but the vehicles behind them were not.

Ultimately, six different vehicles, including a sports utility vehicle, three passenger cars and two tractor-trailers ended up damaged. Several of the occupants were injured as a result of the wreck, one seriously. Traffic was redirected away from the area for several hours while the roadway was cleared.

The injured were transported to a nearby hospital while police tried to determine how the accident occurred and which vehicles damaged the others. Multi-vehicle accidents are often incredibly complicated to sort out — especially for the victims. It can be next to impossible to get an insurance company involved to pay the claim. Most of the insurance companies will try to push their liability off on others who were involved in a wreck.

It may also take some careful investigation by expert witnesses, particularly accident reconstruction experts, to resolve your claim. Accidents happen so quickly and are so traumatic that it’s hard for victims and witnesses to remember the exact order of events in a chain reaction. An accident reconstructionist can help determine how the events unfolded — which is important when assigning relative liability for any damages.

If you’ve been injured in an accident with a tractor-trailer, truck or another vehicle, you may have the right to compensation for your losses. Find out more today.
