On Behalf of | Sep 11, 2012 | Car accidents

After the shock of being hit by another driver wears off, imagine the immense horror that would come over you if your car started smoking. Further, not only is your car smoking, but you have broken bones in all of your limbs and can’t get out of the vehicle. You worry your car is going to go up in flames, and you feel helpless. This nightmare was reality for one Georgia victim injured in an auto accident Sept. 1.

The above details the real-life horror of the Georgia victim as she worried she would burn alive, according to a statement from her parents. This was the fifth wrong-way accident to happen in the Atlanta metropolitan area during a three-week period, the accident took place on Peachtree Industrial Boulevard.

This latest accident was allegedly caused by an 18-year-old woman. It is reported that she crashed head-on into the victim’s vehicle, and was subsequently charged with driving under the influence, in addition to driving on the wrong side of the road.

The victim survived and was admitted to the hospital for her injuries, likely accumulating expensive medical bills. In addition to paying those medical bills, she will need to overcome the trauma of being trapped in a burning car after a terrible crash.

People who drive under the influence of drugs or alcohol can cause severe accidents such as this one. Victims of such acts of negligence are within their rights to pursue a personal injury claim. If successful, this could mean that the court orders financial restitution on behalf of the victim to be paid by the negligent party.
