Rome woman injured after car knocked down embankment

On Behalf of | Sep 7, 2012 | Car accidents

Drivers in Georgia and throughout the country have an obligation to remain alert and cautious on the road. Failure to abide by the rules of the road too often results in injuries to innocent parties. Unfortunately, that appears to have been the case in a recent Floyd County accident involving an elderly motorist.

A young woman was reportedly injured in the Aug. 29 crash that sent one vehicle down an embankment south of Spur 101. An 82-year-old woman was behind the wheel of a car that pulled out into traffic and struck a Toyota Scion, knocking it off the road.

The elderly woman apparently stepped on her gas pedal by mistake, just as the Scion was approaching. A Floyd County police officer cited her for failure to yield. While the elderly woman’s mistake may have been an accident, she could still be held liable for injuries to the 23-year-old Rome woman, who had to be taken to Floyd Medical center for treatment. The nature of her injuries was not disclosed in a local report.

Georgia residents who suffer injuries because of another party’s negligence should be aware of their rights under our state’s personal injury laws. Medical bills, lost wages and rehabilitation can put a serious financial strain on car accident victims, and insurance companies will do what they can to deny coverage for injuries.

If you have questions about car accidents, insurance companies or how to file a personal injury claim, feel free to stop by our Georgia personal injury site. Our firm helps car accident victims obtain the compensation they need and deserve.
