Georgia tractor trailer accident leaves two dead

On Behalf of | Sep 5, 2013 | Car Accidents

An accident involving a tractor-trailer occurred on Satellite Boulevard at Shawnee Industrial Way on Wednesday, Aug. 28. The accident occurred around 10:45 p.m. when a tractor-trailer hit a PT Cruiser that was attempting to turn onto Satellite Boulevard.

The tractor-trailer ended up leaving the roadway and driving into the wood line. It began to leak fuel after it came to a stop. The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured in the accident, but the 20-year-old driver and 25-year-old front seat passenger of the Cruiser both died. The passenger who was in the backseat of the Cruiser suffered from serious injuries, and he was transported to a local hospital. Although authorities say that they don’t believe alcohol or speeding were factors in the accident, civil lawsuits could still be waged against the driver of the tractor-trailer for gross negligence.

The person who had to be taken to the hospital after the accident could decide to seek reimbursement for his hospital bills by filing a personal injury lawsuit. He could also ask for compensation for any wages that he lost due to time he had to miss from work after the accident. He may have also suffered from emotional trauma after the accident that would entitle him to further compensation.

Additionally, the families of the people who died in the accident could attempt to seek compensation for their loved ones’ deaths by filing wrongful death lawsuits. In their lawsuits, they could ask for reimbursement for their loved ones’ hospital bills, burial expenses and lost earning power. Plus, they could seek compensation for their own pain and suffering at their loss. Personal injury lawyers might be able to assist the people wanting to file claims in connection with the incident. They might also help them secure settlements for their claims in a timely manner.
