Soldier injured in Georgia semi truck-motorcycle accident

On Behalf of | Jun 25, 2014 | Motorcycle Accidents

The spring and summer months are a time of heightened motorcycle traffic in Georgia and throughout the country, and drivers of trucks and passenger vehicles should keep an eye out for riders. Too often, failure to see a motorcycle results in serious injuries.

That may have been the case recently in Bryan County, where a motorcyclist was injured when a tractor-trailer turned left into the path of the bike. The accident happened near the gates of Fort Stewart in Richmond Hill, and the injured rider is reportedly a soldier there.

The injured motorcyclist was taken to Memorial Health University Medical Center via ambulance. According to police, the rider’s injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.

The driver of the semi truck received a citation from the Georgia State Patrol.

Like others injured in truck accidents, the injured soldier has the right to seek compensation for his injuries. If he does, he should learn about the various types of damages that could apply to his case. Damage to property, medical bills, lost wages and pain and suffering are some of the claims that he might pursue.

In terms of safety, motorcyclists are at an extreme disadvantage when compared to drivers of larger vehicles, and that is especially the case in a truck-motorcycle collision. Truck driver negligence too often has life-altering consequences for other drivers. If you have been injured in a truck accident, then you should be aware of your legal options for covering the full cost of your injury and holding the responsible parties accountable.
