Car accident kills Georgia man, injures passenger

On Behalf of | Aug 23, 2012 | Car Accidents

A Georgia family is likely still grappling to come to terms with the shock that their loved one is no longer with them. On Monday, the Georgia man was killed in a three-vehicle collision that also injured the Georgia man’s passenger. The car accident happened in the early hours of the morning, just before 5 a.m.

According to reports, the driver of a pickup truck drifted into the center lane, impacting with a trailer being pulled by another pickup truck. The impact caused the second pickup truck to be forced into the inside lane, crashing into the Georgia man’s car, which flipped and went into the woods.

While the Georgia man and his passenger suffered fatal and catastrophic injuries, the other parties were unharmed. According to the report, alcohol is not thought to be a factor. However, based upon the time of the accident and the report, one could surmise that the driver that lost control nodded off at the wheel.

Driving while fatigued could be considered a negligent behavior because it is putting other drivers on the road at risk. To conclusively determine what happened, the family of the man that died will have to wait for the results of the accident report. Charges are pending.

These results could determine if any negligence was involved in the taking of their family member’s life. If this is the case, the family would be within their right to pursue a wrongful death claim as a means of seeking compensation for their pain and suffering as well as the costs of the funeral and burial. While compensation cannot bring the man back or erase the pain of the family, it may deliver a small sense of closure.
