Motorcyclist sets off chain-reaction wreck in Georgia

A chain-reaction wreck was set off around 10 p.m. on Aug. 22 when two motorcycles were speeding down Interstate 75 in Clayton County. An officer reportedly clocked the two motorcycles traveling at 110 mph before the accident occurred. The chain reaction wreck commenced when one of the motorcycles ran into the back of a Volkswagen and lost control.

Georgia police officer dies while in pursuit

Police in DeKalb County reported the death of a police officer who was killed in a wreck while he pursued a motorist who was driving a stolen car. According to officials, the officer had pulled the motorist over during a traffic stop. The driver fled the scene after the officer took his information and headed back to his patrol car. The officer pursued the suspect for a short distance until the chase was aborted. Shortly thereafter, he was notified that the man was spotted in the area and he resumed his chase, only to strike a tree with his vehicle.

Charges filed against Savannah man in fatal car accident

Charges were filed against a northern Georgia man in connection with a car accident that killed one person and seriously injured two others back in May of 2013. Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department has charged the 18-year-old Savannah man with second degree homicide by vehicle and failure to maintain his lane.

Driver charged with DUI in north Georgia crash

Georgia State Police charged a woman with DUI and other violations after a serious crash that occurred at about 10 a.m. on Aug. 6 in Murrayville. The police reported that the woman drove across the road and hit a vehicle that was heading in the opposite direction. Both the driver of the vehicle and his passenger were injured in this car accident.

Fatal car crash claims life of undercover officer

In Georgia, one officer was killed in the line of duty and another critically injured when their vehicle collided with a utility pole on North Veterans Parkway in Columbus. The 53-year-old man who died was an undercover officer with the Metro Narcotics Task Force and a 32-year veteran of the Columbus police force. According to authorities, both officers were on their way to provide back-up to a third officer who was in pursuit of a suspect in an unrelated incident when the car wreck took place.
