How many seniors are licensed to drive?

Some people may assume that those who are older may not be able to carry out certain tasks as well, although this is certainly not always true. For example, many seniors drive on a regular basis and are fully capable on handling driving responsibilities well. Unfortunately, some may neglect certain areas of concern, such as those related to eyesight, which can be problematic behind the wheel. If you are a senior driver, or someone you love is an older driver, it is important to be aware of these issues.

Are pedestrian fatalities decreasing?

In recent years, a great deal of attention has been devoted to traffic safety and reducing the likelihood of various types of traffic accidents, such as large truck wrecks and drunk driving accidents. However, pedestrian accidents are another very concerning aspect of traffic safety and these incidents can be especially damaging for pedestrians, who can be especially vulnerable to suffering a major injury or passing away. Furthermore, it is important for pedestrians to be aware of trends and the number of lives that are claimed in these accidents.

Addressing an injury that occurred at work

People are hurt in many ways, from motor vehicle collisions to a slip-and-fall accident in their home. However, some injuries occur as a result of the carelessness or negligent behavior of another person and this is especially problematic in the workplace. Each year, many employees sustain a wide range of injuries while performing their job duties. Some are hurt in work-related traffic incidents, while others are injured due to the dangerous nature of their line of work or the negligence of a co-worker or employer. For employees who sustain work-related injuries, it is pivotal to address them properly.

Accidents caused by spending too much time behind the wheel

There are different areas of concern when it comes to factors that can cause a collision, from those which are more common (speeding, etc.) to those which are far less common. One potential risk factor that drivers should be mindful of involves spending long amounts of time behind the wheel. When someone is driving for too long, such as someone who is on a road trip, for example, they may become mentally exhausted and lose focus. Moreover, they may become cramped and more likely to cause an accident due to physical discomfort.

A jury may not understand why people ride motorcycles

Many people, including some of those who sit on juries during motorcycle accident cases, may not understand riders and what motivates them, especially riders who are older. While it is true that motorcyclists are more vulnerable to injuries than motorists who are inside vehicles, most have a built-in respect for the possibility of crashes and do what they can to protect themselves.

Unfamiliar roads and the risk of a crash

Driving in a new city or even country can be tough for many reasons. For example, a driver may not be familiar with roads in a particular area, causing them to accidentally drive the wrong way down a one-way road or be unaware of certain spots that are especially dangerous. Furthermore, people who find themselves in new areas may be tired due to jet lag or driving for long hours on a road trip. Aside from these potential areas of concern, distracted driving is especially problematic for those who are operating a vehicle in unfamiliar territory.
