On Behalf of | Jul 8, 2013 | Motorcycle Accidents

The names of those involved have been released following a Georgia car crash that led to one man being critically injured. According to the Georgia State Patrol, a 63-year-old motorcycle rider had been heading west on a highway at the time of the motorcycle accident.

A 58-year-old driving a 2003 GMC Envoy was trying to make a U-turn on the highway at the same time the motorcyclist was passing. The SUV ended up in the path of the motorcycle, resulting in the serious injury of the motorcycle rider. The motorcycle rider was reportedly taken to the Grady Memorial Hospital via helicopter.

The driver of the SUV was not reported to have sustained any injuries during the crash. The 63-year-old motorcyclist was said to be in critical condition following the accident. Reportedly, the 58-year-old driver of the SUV was charged by the police with an improper U-turn.

The motorcyclist in this case may want to retain a personal injury attorney in regards to his injuries. The driver of the SUV may have been driving in a negligent manner when he attempted an illegal U-turn, and if the driver of the SUV is found to have been responsible, the motorcyclist may be able to seek compensation for his injuries as well as associated costs. Depending on how badly the motorcyclist is injured, he may suffer lost wages while he recovers. Should the motorcyclist die from his injuries, his family may wish to contact a personal injury attorney in order to pursue a wrongful death claim against the driver of the SUV. This claim might provide compensation for the loss of the motorcyclist’s life along with providing the funds for expenses such as a funeral and covering the medical costs incurred.
